Wayland Academy Norfolk Exhibition Summer 2019

Students from Wayland Academy, year 7 – 10, were invited to exhibit their artwork at the Dragonfly Gallery June 2019. It involved GCSE Art and Photography work as well as sculpture and mixed media from key stage 3.

We were excited to be able to host this wonderful exhibition; enabling our talented young people to see their work displayed within the local community.

There was a well-attended Private view, with parents, pupils and teachers as well as local residents coming to support the students ans appreciate their hard work and talent.

As part of the exhibition, the gallery organised a “Visitors’ Vote” of favourite artworks, and contacted local businesses to sponsor prizes for the students, art materials vouchers. These generous donations came from four local businesses: The Watton Bakery, James Ball Carpets, Myhills and the Express Fish Bar. Awards were presented by Mayor of Watton, Pat Warwick, for Best in show for Art & Textiles, Photography and the Dragonfly Gallery Young Artist Award.

Students were interviewed about their artwork for the BBC Radio Norfolk’s youth show, The Social.
